Most people do not realise how important it is to keep your door handles clean. Most often the door handles of our homes are missed in our routine home clean, the carpet gets hoovered, the floors are mopped, everything gets dusted and washed, but yet the door handles never seem to get a look in with a cloth or polish or anything. We see door handles as a functional piece on our doors but in actual fact they are very much like a furnishing that needs to be cleaned just as our pictures frames and coffee table needs wiping and cleaning. We wouldn’t forget to wipe or clean our dinning room table and so why forget our door handles?
Many people carry germs and bacteria around on their hands whether it’s from a sneeze or a cough, or from germs picked up from other surfaces and door handles. All these germs are then put on to your door handles from yourself and anyone else who uses your doors. Germs can be the cause of many different illnesses such as colds and flus, bronchitis, viruses, and much more. Adults are prone to flu’s and cold and children are especially susceptible to these along with many other illnesses such as chicken pox. The only way of destroying the germs that are picked up from your surfaces and door handles is to clean them regularly with the appropriate cleaning agents. Not only will cleaning your door handles keep your family from catching a cold or virus but your doors will look fabulous from the shiny and glossy clean finish.
Depending on the type of door handles you have in your home will depend on the best way to clean them. Some door handles are sensitive to harsh cleaning agents and so warm soapy water would be best. Once you have cleaned the door handles it is then important to dry them off with a clean dry cloth, this will stop the door handles from streaking.
